For more than 25 years, Martha Spatz has worked with building owners and tenants to launch and sustain successful commercial properties. For regional centers, her design sensitivity and proactive approach to communication has consistently achieved some of the highest percentages in the country of tenant occupancy at grand opening.

Martha founded Development Management Associates, LLC (DMA) in 2007 with Mike Levin and Charles Porter. She directs business development, marketing, and operations within the organization and oversees tenant coordination services. Her accomplishments for DMA clients include leading the following projects:

Roosevelt Collection, Chicago, IL: Tenant coordination of retail for new mixed-use development: 400,000 square feet of retail and 350 apartments; the property was sold in May 2011
Federal Realty Investment Trust, Midwest portfolio of properties: Ongoing tenant coordination and construction oversight for retail properties totaling nearly one million square feet
GEM/Budget Self Storage Facilities, multiple locations in North Carolina and Ontario, CA: Owner's representation on joint venture projects

Previously, Martha headed the tenant coordination department at Urban Retail Properties, overseeing an average of 700 tenant deals at existing client properties per year for more than a decade. She also worked as an architect in several Chicago-area firms.

Martha has played a lead tenant coordination role, working as an owner and on behalf of client owners, for projects that also include:

Branson Landing, Branson, MO: lifestyle center (waterfront retail and entertainment); 99 stores; 500,000 square feet; phased opening
The Streets at Southpoint, Durham, NC: hybrid mall (exterior retail and entertainment); 96% occupancy, 122 stores, 525,000 square feet at grand opening
Citrus Park Town Center, Tampa, FL: regional center; 120 stores, 98% occupancy, 445,000 square feet at grand opening
Oakbrook Center, Oakbrook, IL: outdoor upscale shopping center; expansion; phased opening
900 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL: 66-story multi-use complex (seven stories of luxury retail); phased opening

Martha is a licensed architect and holds a master's degree in architecture and a bachelor's degree in architectural studies from the University of Illinois-Champaign. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional as granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. She is an active leader within the shopping center industry through the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). She chaired the CenterBuild Conference in 2003 and served on the Program Committee for 10 years. She has served on the ICSC-CDP Governing and Admissions Committee and taught professional development classes at the ICSC University, at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Martha is currently serving on the CenterBuild Advisory Council.
