Welcoming future engineers and architects

DMA provided students in applied arts and technology classes at Maine West High School with the opportunity for an inside look at a major development project in process within their community. Two student groups toured the Des Plaines casino structure and site in December 2010 with DMA staff members Jaimie Bulla, Michelle Jaques, and Eric Bullion with Pepper Construction. The City of Des Plaines Building Department facilitated the connection at the request of a Maine West faculty member.

Many of the students are interested in pursuing careers in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or architecture. DMA staff enjoyed the time with them—and the cookies from Maine West's "Food Lab" that came as a thank-you.
