Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is an international not-for-profit organization that fosters the exchange of multi-disciplinary information on tall buildings and sustainable urban environments. Development Management Associates Principal Charles Porter is a longstanding CTBUH member, and DMA attended the organization's annual Awards Symposium and ceremony November 3rd, 2011. The event, held in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, attracted more than 600 delegates and featured presentations on numerous award-winning projects. CTBUH recognized KfW Westarkade, in Frankfurt, as the 2011 Best Tall Building Worldwide and "one of the most energy-efficient office buildings in the world."

In December 2011, DMA held a Green High Rise Roundtable in its offices with professionals active in sustainable high-rise development including:
  • Pat Meara, Sr. VP at JMB
  • Antony Wood, PhD RIBA, Executive Director, Council on Tall Buildings and the Urban Habitat
  • Gail Borthwick, Senior Architect, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture
  • Robert Tazelaar PE LEED AP, Associate Principal, Arup Engineering and Consulting
  • David Wilts LEED AP BD+C CTS, Associate Principal, Arup Engineering and Consulting
On behalf of JMB, DMA is currently providing development management services for a high-rise office building in Century City, Los Angeles designed to earn LEED Platinum certification–the highest level awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council.
